About

Hey, I’m David.

I spent over four years at Epic Games working on Fortnite — most recently as Competitive Operations Manager, where I ran the systems and logistics behind one of the biggest esports in the world. It was a wild, fast-paced environment and I loved every second at Epic.

My background is a bit of a mix. I have a B.S. in Data Science from BYU-Idaho, and throughout my time at Epic I did a lot of work in SQL — forecasting tournament concurrent users, querying player info and leaderboard results, and digging into data to make better decisions. The competitive ops role was my primary function, but data was always woven into how I worked.

Right now I’m in a transition period, figuring out what’s next, and leaning into the technical side of things more intentionally. I’m interested in data science, analytics, and software, and I’m actively building toward roles that let me dig deeper there.

Outside of work

I’m a hardcore Harry Potter fan! I dabble in short-form content (@dabisbesh) covering HP lore, the upcoming HBO series, fanfic reviews, and fan commentary. It’s a passion project that I’m having a lot of fun with.

I’m also an avid gamer, Stoicism enthusiast, certified Utahn (hiker), and someone who gravitates toward fast-moving problems and creative environments.
